The Birch Run - Taymouth PFY youth wrestling club
recently competed in the Mid Michigan Wrestling Association (MMWA)
northern regionals held at Clio High School, on March 8, 2009.
Birch Run had 34 wrestlers competing at the day-long event and of
those a total of 20 placed in the top 4 of their respective age and
weight divisions. Only the top 4 of each of 3 regions qualify for
the State Finals in Clarkston. Those wrestlers who qualified from
Birch Run are back row left to right: Logan Bovee, Brock Cook,
Chase Gibson, Eric Conant, Nick Bierlein, Don Knapp, Sean Woodcock,
Preston Hogan, Kyle Kelsey, AJ Polley, Ean Taylor. Front Row Left
to Right: Chase Smith, Logan Young, Mason Basner, Brigg Cook,

These 20 wrestlers then competed at the MMWA State
Final in Clarckston, MI on March 14, 2009. Although only a few
placed, all the young men in attendance put forth a great effort to
represent themselves and Birch Run Wrestling Club in great fashion.
Of these 20, 5 wrestlers placed in the top 4 in the MMWA: Left to
right they are Nick Bierlein - 2nd place, Logan Young - 1st Place,
Preston Hogan - 4th place, Eric Conant - 3rd place, and missing
from the photo: Christian Miller - 3rd place. Christian Miller
also placed 3rd at the NEMWA State Finals.
